Sending E-Mail from Off Campus
The server which we use for sending out messages does not allow messages to be sent out from computers which are off campus using the default setup. If you want to send messages from your UAH email account from off campus you can either use ChargerMail or you can configure the outgoing (SMTP) server settings on Outlook or other email client to use different settings from the default.
Basically you need to tell your email client that the SMTP server (where outgoing messages are sent from) is email.uah.edu, that it is to use port 587 rather than port 25, to use Username and Password authentication, and to use TLS security.
In the Thunderbird email client you can find this under Tools - Account Settings - Outgoing SMTP Server. It should look something like this after you enter 587 for the port and TLS for the type of connection:
